Alpine, Snow & Ice Rescue Operations
As a Mountain Rescue Association (MRA) member, the Team is part of a national organization that assists in search and rescue efforts in various counties and states. This means that SBCSAR team members may be called upon to respond to emergencies in other areas in higher elevations and with colder winter environments.
To ensure that the Team is well-prepared for these types of emergencies, we undergo specialized training in alpine snow and ice operations. This training includes learning about the specific challenges of operating in snowy and icy terrain and the techniques and equipment required to safely and effectively conduct search and rescue operations in these conditions.
Having this level of expertise in snow and ice rescue operations allows us to be a valuable asset to other search and rescue teams throughout California and beyond.
Our team can provide critical support and assistance to these teams during emergencies, especially in areas where snow and ice are more common and severe.
